This time of year is a great time to reflect and look back over the past year. What did you accomplish? What did you avoid? How far have you come? Have you fulfilled those burning desires you oh so wanted a year ago?

I know I always take a step back this time of year and think about what I‘ve accomplished. What I avoided? And how far I have come. And this year is no exception. YES! I stuck to my workout plan. Woohoo! CRAP! I didn’t do so well on eating “real” vegetables, but I did stick to getting more veggies through my daily smoothie. That HAS to count for something doesn’t it? And to top it off, I started my own business and I couldn’t be happier. This goal has been on my list for years, but it was never written down until this year. And I am going to show you why that is so important.

Here are my tips for setting yourself up for success in 2015.

GET CLEAR

Figure out what is in your heart and what you want to achieve. What lights you up inside? What would make you so happy you would shout it from the rooftops? Write that down. Take a piece of paper, or in your journal and write down what your dream day/year would look like. What sort of life do you really want to create for Welcome To Your New Life Conceptyourself? Dream about how you want to feel in your life. Think about what your day looks like. Where you are waking up? What is happening? Who is with you? How do you feel? That is key, how do you feel? Spend a little time in doing this. It will be fun. Just get lost in your dream world.

Then I want you to figure out, how you want to feel in your key areas of your life? Start with the following six areas of your life: Personal Growth, Partner/Romance, Friends/Family, Career, Finances and Health. Determine what feels good to you and write it down. Try and come up with 3-5 core overarching desired feelings that you would like to have in your life. This is not 3-5 for each area, this is 3-5 for overarching feelings. What is your core desired feeling in each area? Do you want to feel accepted, supported or loved by your partner? Do you want to feel radiant health in your life? Do you want to feel joy or proud of yourself in your career? Try to avoid words like successful because society has put too much weight into this word. Just focus on truly how you want to feel.

Once you have your core desired feelings written down, then I want you to think about 3 goals that you would like to achieve in 2015 that will help you fuel these feelings. Don’t choose to do anything on your list if it doesn’t align with your core feelings.

BREAK IT DOWN. WRITE IT DOWN.

Now take that vision of your ideal life and your core desired feelings and think about what you want to achieve. But the key here is you need to actually write down your goals and put in some real thinking around them. The reason I want you to write your goals down is because in general most people don’t achieve their goals. But by writing your goals down you are getting clear on what you want, and it keeps you focused and accountable.  You are much more likely to achieve your goals if you have them written down.
Create 3-4 achievable goals that you can put into place to help you create that amazing life you just dreamed up. Let’s say in your vision of your dream life, you were working for yourself Closeup Of Girl Hand Writingas an entrepreneur and it fulfilled your core desired feeling of pure joy. Then I want you to write down as one of your goals, starting your own business.
Yes that goal may sound daunting, but you can break goals  down into bite size, achievable chunks and get the right support in place to reach your goals. When you do that it is much more manageable and you are setting yourself up for success.
Maybe your goal is to stick to a healthy regime where you are working out regularly and eating better because your core desired feeling is to have radiant health. Well how can you do that? What do you need to make that happen? Once again you will want to break it down into achievable bite size chunks. You can hire a health coach or personal trainer to work with you. All you have to do is Google it or ask me. They are everywhere. You can also find a workout buddy to help you stay on track. Remember the key is that you want to have radiant health, so you want to do whatever brings that core desired feeling to you. If you HATE working out in a gym, don’t join a gym. I haven’t worked out in a gym in over 11 years. Yet, I work out 5+ days a week both inside my home (I do not have a home gym) or outside running. And I love it.

CREATE BENCHMARKS

The best way to achieve what you want is to create smaller, actionable steps and create a realistic time frame to achieve each one. As you get started you might need to refine your goals. Certain tasks take longer than you might originally think, and it is fine to re-evaluate and reassess. For example, starting a business can be a daunting goal. But breaking it down into bite size chunks and working with a Business Coach can really help. You might achieve some of those goals quicker than others, but don’t lose faith. I had a goal to launch my website in a month, it took me 6 weeks. Big deal. I still achieved it and couldn’t have been more excited with my results. The bottom line is you need to break down the larger goal into bite size chunks that you can achieve.

CELEBRATE

It is so incredibly important to celebrate your successes along the way. How will you celebrate when you hit your benchmarks? I remember a girlfriend of mine who lost 100 pounds over a year. She celebrated every 10 pounds she lost with a banana split. I know it sounds like an oxymoron, but come on, she deserved to celebrate and live a little after losing each of those 10 pounds and you know what, she lost that 100 pounds and has kept it off for 10 years. Impressive. For me, I have been known to celebrate by dancing and singing when I achieve a small goal. I can’t tell you how excited I was when I gave my notice. I had champagne that night and it was the best celebration ever.

So I ask you, what are your goals this coming year? Are you going to be able to reflect one year from today on all the amazing things you have accomplished? I suggest you put your goals in a place that you can review them daily. Don’t put them somewhere and forget about them. This is your blueprint for your dream life.
One year from now, are you going to say, wow, look at how far I have come. I created that business I had always desired to create and am working with so many amazing clients. I have so much joy in my life from following my dream. Or finally, I stuck to my workout plan and I look and feel AMAZING and better yet I have radiant health now. I have created the most amazing life for myself and my family. I want you to say, “Brigid, Oh my gosh, pinch me, is this real”? So, tell me, what are your goals for 2015. I’d love to know.
